The Community Helping Place was originally organized by the Lumpkin County Religious Community to address with care and compassion the needs of Lumpkin County by offering charitable humantarian services. Shalom B'Harim is an active part of this organization.
CHP has a thrift store which helps to bring in funds to help defray the costs for maintaining such an operation. Another part of CHP is a food pantry. This as well as the thrift store is manned by a paid staff plus many, many volunteers.
Food is always needed. The most needed items are Cooking OIl (24 oz), Sugar (2 lb bags), Self-rising Corn Meal (2 lb) Cereal (14-22 oz), Grits (2 lb), Jelly (18 oz), Box Spaghetti, Box Saltine Crackers (1 lb), Canned Meats, (salmon, spam, ham, chicken) canned carrots, greens (mustard, turnip, collard). Also, Instant potatoes, canned chicken broth, cheese, rolls, cake mix, green beans.

As to the Thrift Store: Clothing, Books, Bric-a-Brac, Furniture, Lamps, etc. Please do not donate JUNK--Only items that you would consider buying yourself. All items donated to the Thrift Store can be deducted from your taxes. They have the proper forms for your accountant.
Bring food to the shule. Suggest that you take items for the Thrift Store in yourself--we can provide you with the easy directions.
